When was the last time you looked at, understood and refreshed your values?
I will be honest with you darl. Until I hired my first 1:1 Coach in 2020, I never even gave it a second thought. Values were just the things that my workplace had plastered on the walls. Just words.
Did you know that many of our values are not even our own……<SAY WHATTTT>. They are values past down by our parents, caregivers, society etc. Values that we simply accept, and wonder why we feel deeply disconnected and unfulfilled in adult life. Or maybe the values that we have absorbed are contributing to feelings of failure and unworthiness e.g having children, owning my own home.
I now recognise the true power of values work, and it underpins every 1:1 long-term coaching programme I do.
Taking time to be curious, explore and renovate the subconscious systems that govern all of our behaviours and decisions. Letting go of the things that no longer align and resonate. Building a strong foundation that we can use to take action and create a forward momentum towards the life we really want and deserve.
How do you start exploring your values?
Grab a pen and paper and start writing out your values – the things that are really important to you both currently and if you had a 10/10 life.
Community and contribution
Once you are happy with your list, rate each section out of 10 in terms of where you are currently against them. 0 = not aligned at all, 10 = completely aligned.
This will give you not only a clear idea of your values, but a starting point to start creating goals and aspirations for the future.
